Full Circle at the Verdict

The Verdict (Jazz Club) in Brighton has, for over 20 years presented some of the best of British Jazz. Post covid the club has been curated by drummer Tristan Banks and excels in presenting a wide selection of jazz from the UK and beyond. With an amazing array of excellent musicians resident on the south coast, weekends at The Verdict are not to be missed.

Having been a regular visit to Ronnie Scotts in the seventies and eighties I get the same buzz from my visits to the Verdict. A 200 mile round trip but worth the cost and effort to spend an evening or two at this wonderful little club, the Ronnie Scotts of the South Coast.

On Friday (17th March) the Verdict presented terry Packs Full Circle a four piece collective conceived in the pandemic lockdowns and nominally led by bassist Terry Pack. The quartet treated us to 90 minutes of beautiful and varied original music in part inspired by the South Downs.

The ensemble was completed by BAFTA award-winning pianist and composer Joss Peach, Josephine Davies on both tenor and soprano saxophones and dummer, percussionist Angus Bishop. Josephine Davies also leads creative and improvisatory trio Satori along with bassist Dave Whitford and drummer James Maddren.
